EvE Online - a world, a home, amongst the stars. These are the voyages of an EvE 'noob' from day one. I hope we have an enjoyable trip...

Season's Greetings

So - here we are on the cusp of a New Year and sadly subject yet again to a declaration of war. Hey ho so seems to be the world just now.

So - what did you spend them on? I managed to get into an Orca finally and with some appreciated help acquire the gang and mind links needed to fly it relatively well. I'm now training Cybernetics to level five to allow me to plug in the mindlink then it's the longish haul up to Mining Director five coupled with Warfare Link Specialist to five also which should pretty well max out my boosts to enable me to help out mining ops - when we get back to peace time operations again at least!

I have two other alts who are currently 'pimping' their mining skills in order to work with the Orca to strive towards some sort of self sufficiency. Once we're there I need to look at production and research to 'diversify' my money making a little.

'Some say...' that whenever we advertise a mining operation in the Uni we're War dec'd. I prefer to think of it as an unhappy coincidence. That said a few of us OOC sorts still managed a get together the other night to bring in some ore. With one of my alts I'm currently a few jumps from Aldrat now grinding standings with the MMC to try to maximise profits for our system operations. Even without full standings we still cleared about 4 mil each in an hour which wasn't too shabby.

Anyways - hope you have a very healthy and happy 2011 and not too bad a headache tomorrow!

Fly safe for now o7

War is over.... and it's nearly Christmas!

Well, the war ended in the way these things seem to do in Eve. It petered out having struggled to gather much momentum. That said at least these opponents were willing to scrap it out on occasion so some learning was to be had.

So, we're back on the rocks - a mighty haul last week we managed to clear two belts in 'drat of their ore. I sometimes feel sorry for the individual miner in their frig chipping away at the rocks as two Orcas and several hungry barges and exhumers land in the belt and light up the rocks. It doesn't last long - they're always free to join us :-)

So - learning skills are going away. Old news now I know and it's scheduled for tomorrow. I've only got just over 300k SP in the skills so won't have a great deal to play with. The base stats though will put me around one point over what I already have so things should speed up generally which is a good thing. I've put together an EveMon plan which takes me to this time next year when I'll be skilled and certified to pilot not only my dreamed of Orca but also a Malediction (I'm in the Navy now!) and a Covops ship for some sneaky beaky trips to Outer Ring to pick up some BPOs. This time I'm ready for the free neural remap which I'm anticipating will be waiting for me when I log in tomorrow night.

War War is stupid...

Well, here we are. Uni HQ brimming with miners who are pining for the rocks. I'm lucky enough to be able to run two extra characters so I'm still scratching the 'roid splitting itch. I've also invested in the Noctis - sad I know - to clear up after Uni mining ops when we finally get released back out of the station when the corps who have declared war on us get bored. Of course war also allows for some pen time so here I am.

I'm traininng Mining Foreman now up to level 5 which is going to take just over two weeks. Following that it won't surprise you to know it's Mining Director I followed by Ship Command 5 and then Industrial Command Ships 1. That will get me into the Orca at last. Then I can work on the skills to make it useful!

Having only played since mid Sept 2010 I'm still astounded at the depth of this game. It's fantastic in its level of detail and specialisation which must mean that all our journeys present different challenges and offshoots. It's a great investment of time.

The First Post...

I hope this Blog will document the mining exploits of the EvE
University mining team. Also my own personal journey through the world that is EvE online. How bemused I was to start with, how confused I am now and how I don't really expect it to change for some months to come. But also how much fun you can have in this fantastic world.
